Hey everyone sorry for not posting for a while but of course you know already I have been super busy. But I did want share with you some of my adventures that I have been doing in the last month. Since Wedding season has slowed I have had some time to do some relaxation. Not to say that I don't love to shoot weddings, just some times I you have to have some me time if you know what I mean. Last week I just got back from my trip to Lake Tahoe and Hawaii back to back. Me and Rebecca went on a world wind vacation. We first headed to Tahoe to meet up with her aunt Liz and her husband Matt. They live in Texas and also wanted to have a vacation so we all met up in Tahoe to do some skiing and snowboarding. Snowboarding is one of my many hobbies that I love to do when I'm not photographing weddings. Here is a shot at Squaw Valley that I took with Rebecca's little point and shoot (note: every shot on this entry is shot with a point and shoot camera)....

There hasn't been much snow this year in Tahoe but just this last week they finally got snow so hopefully the season will get better. This was also the first time Rebecca went skiing since she was younger and she loved it. Me and Matt also went night snowboarding at Borel the night before we went to Squaw, Matt was pretty good for not being on a snowboard in 4 years. We all had a lot of fun and plan on making it a yearly thing so be prepared for next years trip. Here is a picture of all of us in front of the cabin we rented. (left to right: Me, Rebecca, Matt, Liz)...
After Tahoe we drove home unpacked our bags then repacked are bags and left the next morning for the hot sun of the Big Island of Hawaii. I have been to many of the islands in Hawaii but for some reason I love the big island of Hawaii the best. There is just something about it, I highly recommend it if you can't deiced what island to go to. We arrived in the afternoon to see the sunset and when we got back we found these guys waiting for us...
geckos, every night there were 5-10 hanging around the light feeding on bugs. In Hawaii these are good luck so we welcomed thier stay. We stayed in a house 30 min north of Kona in a small town close to one of the nicest sandy beaches on this side of the island. The next day we made it a beach day, Rebecca's view of the beach...
The next few days I enjoyed another great Hobie of mine surfing. I live in Santa Cruz were you have to have a wetsuit on year round when you surf, so not having to have a wetsuit while surfing was a treat, also a big swell hit while we were there so the surf was really good. Here is a picture of me surfing that you can hardly see because I was so far away from the camera and it is a point and shot camera (I'm the dot on the right hand side of the frame)....
We also got to go down to the Volcano and do some hiking and see some Lava. This was the road to the active lava, if you look close you can see the steam coming from the lava...
This was a shot of a Lava field...
What was what was left of the road from the lava...
To go right up to the lava you had to hike at least 2 1/2 miles there on lava rock and the same back. We tried to make it but the lack of daylight and a flash light made us turn around at marker five. I think there 2 1/2 mile were a little off because marker 5 seamed to be 2 1/2 miles. Me and Rebecca before our attempted to hike to the lava(see pic below).
Rebecca showin love to marker 5..

Rock surrounded by a lava flow....

Close as we got from our attempt to get to the Lava, it looked farther than it was...
Finally at dusk ever thing went from steam to vibrant red, here is some lava coming down the hill side...
Overall this was a much needed vacation and I enjoyed every second of it, can't wait to go back. I would also like to note I do travel to Hawaii for weddings if you need a photographer:)
